Feast of San Giovan Giuseppe

Every year, on the first Sunday of September, the festivities for the Patron Saint of Ischia, San Giovan Giuseppe della Croce, are celebrated. Ischia Ponte comes alive with colors, sounds, and lights. On Thursday, the statue of the Saint is enthroned; on Friday, the Madonna. Evenings are enlivened with performances and fireworks. On Sunday, Masses and a city procession take place. On Monday, there's a moving procession by sea and an emotional farewell between the saint and the Virgin. The celebrations conclude with a spectacular fireworks.
