Feast of St. Vito

The Feast of St. Vito, patron saint of Forio, is celebrated in June with processions, music, and colors. Devotion to St. Vito dates back to the Middle Ages, and legend connects him to the cultivation of grapevines on the island. The Basilica of St. Vito, an ancient parish, was elevated to a Basilica in 1988. The cult of St. Vito has spread throughout Europe and Italy, with 15 municipalities bearing his name and 74 honoring him as their patron saint. The festival takes place around June 15th.
