The "Scalata a Santa Maria al Monte"

The "Scalata a Santa Maria al Monte" is an annual running event held in Forio, Ischia, since 1987. This challenging and symbolic race sees numerous athletes participate for faith and sport. The event is dedicated to the memory of Bartolomeo Impagliazzo, a local benefactor. Each edition provides prizes and refreshments for participants. The event culminates with the arrival of the runners on the churchyard of Santa Maria al Monte, amid the cheers of those present and the warm welcome of local ceremony masters.
